This past Saturday WatchGamesTV hosted an AMA on the Official WAX Discord where he answered some creative and serious questions alike. Check out the transcript of the AMA below and make sure to join the Discord to take part in our next AMA!
Question: Who is your biggest inspiration on YouTube?
WatchGamesTV: There are a ton of great creators on YouTube, but for me I would say Sam Kolder is a creator that I value. I’ve been following his YouTube journey for a very long time, and its crazy to see the amount of effort he puts into his videos. Although his content is different from what I do, the fact that he grew up in the same city as me, inspires me in a way.
Q: How many hype shoes do you own?
WGTV: I would say probably around 20-25 different pairs of shoes. Although most of my shoes are for personal wear, there are a few of them that I am keeping to sell in the future as the prices go up.
Q: Why did you decide to start doing YouTube?
WGTV: I kind of got into YouTube randomly. My friend recommended that we should start making videos for a game we played called Clash of Clans. “If we spend this much time and money playing this game why not make content out of it.” It was a fun hobby and I never really took it that serious[ly]. I bought a headset that had a mic on it from a store and just started recording.
Q: What’s your favorite sneaker brand at the moment?
WGTV: This question is a bit hard to answer since I’m kind of stuck between Adidas and Nike. I am a fan of Adidas and the comfort you get with their shoes, but Nike has had some amazing collaborations with brands that really make their shoes stand out (i.e. Off-White). So I would say for comfort I choose Adidas, and for style I’d go with Nike.
Q: What’s one of the best vIRLs you’ve unboxed so far?
WGTV: I think out of all my vIRLs that I have unboxed my top 2 would be: “Canon | EOS 5D Mark IV” and “Louis Vuitton X Supreme | 5 Panel Camouflage Cap”. I know its not a crazy $20,000 jacket, but those 2 items are my biggest pulls so far from the vIRL cases. (and thanks to twitter, I actually withdrew the crazy $1,000 + hat).
Q: If you could be a full-time streamer or professional player for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
WGTV: I think full time streamer would be ideal as I can play different games and there is no competitive pressure. I feel being a professional player might get boring after some time, since you dedicate your whole life on one game.
Q: How much did your PC cost and what are the specs?
WGTV: Too much… After having a ton of PC issues I decided to invest around $20,000 (CAD) on a PC with a ton of crazy specs. Here are the specs: CPU: Intel Core i9-7960X (16-Core) 2.80GHz, GPU: 2x SLI Dual (GeForce GTX TITAN Xp 12GB (Pascal), RAM: 128GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX, SSD: 2TB Samsung 850 EVO, SSD M.2: 2TB Samsung 960 PRO, Mobo: ASUS ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME. The funny thing is that even with this crazy PC, it still breaks down when I stream. So yeah…xD
Q: Craziest case battle you’ve been in?
WGTV: I think the craziest case battle that I was in was probably the $9,000 battle that me and 2 friends decided to do. It was definitely a ton of fun but also super risky. I feel in the future I will maybe attempt a bigger battle, but I’m still deciding since it is super risky!
Q: Most hype item you own?
WGTV: A lot of my hype items are pretty similar in price, I own a few box logo Supreme hoodies, and a ton of sneakers but as of now I don’t really have a “crazy” super hype item. If price did not matter and it was maybe personal choice I would definitely pick between: Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Hi Off-White or my Air Max 1/97 Sean Wotherspoons.
Q: Any tips for up and coming YouTubers?
WGTV: I think my biggest tip for up and coming YouTubers is consistency. I find it a lot of the times when I take a short break from YouTube, my channel suffers. As a smaller channel, try to create a routine or a schedule for yourself. It will definitely help you grow. Another tip would be to focus your content around one topic/game/genre and be great at it, but also test different video ideas once a week. A lot of the videos that I thought would do great flopped, and the ones that I thought would flop actually did really well.
Last but not least, DO NOT dedicate your whole life around social media/YouTube, it is very important for your mental health to focus on friends, family, actual social interactions.
Q: Are you secretly Mirage from Apex Legends?
WGTV: Yes, I am actually a decoy answering your question.
Q: Where are you from?
WGTV: I was born in Bulgaria, but my parents are Turkish. We moved to Canada when I was young, and have been living here since then. I try to go back to Bulgaria every summer but sometimes I can’t because of YouTube.
Q: What’s in your fridge right now?
WGTV: I’m not too sure to be honest, I still haven’t eaten anything, but I assume a ton of meat, maybe a cake, and probably some Greek yogurt.
Q: Have you ever thought of getting a pair of Nike Air Mag’s?
WGTV: I have thought about getting a pair, but the way my bank account is set up its not possible. Hopefully vIRL can snag a pair and put it in their case so one day maybe I can unbox them or cry when I see someone else get them.
Q: What’s your secret for being so handsome?
WGTV: LOL. I guess taking care of myself as much as I can, but the truth is my parents have a lot to do with it, since they brought me into this world which I’m thankful for.
Q: Have you ever broken anything by raging?
WGTV: I used to go through a ton of computer mice. Every time I died or raged I would slam my mouse down, and once I even threw it at my door and it is still stuck in there today.
